In olden times, chatelaines were called "the necessaries", usually worn by a servant or lady of the castle.  Chatelaines were hooked or pinned from the waist, the large central piece holding extended chains from which a variety of household items were attached.  Scissors, sewing cases, knives, vinaigrettes, notepads, bottles, watches and keys were some of the necessaries of the day.    They were made from gold, silver, silver plate, stamped metal and cut-steel. Later, when this custom became obsolete, chatelaines took on a more decorative look and were made as costume jewelry. Here you will find both!

#C-SW-75.  Magnificent antique sterling silver daggers chatelaine.  Each adorned with a different motif.  Take a peek!  Condition: Excellent.  Price: $105.00.
 
#C-ST-21.  A fabulous antique German silver chatelaine which holds a knife (marked sterling) and a very ornate box.  The box is topped with a beautiful multi-faceted red stone and the bottom is abalone.  The central piece is a stamped metal and also very ornate. Very, very nice.  $275.00.
 

#C-BR-76.  Punched metal ballerina chatelaine permanently attached by two chains to a bird in flight.  Gold toned. Some tarnishing here. Condition: good. Price $20.00.
 
C-BR-22.  This gold over metal Chatelaine is held by a brass safety pin.  It is dated May 15, 1905, the patent date.  This is a large piece measuring 3" across.  Very detailed and lovely.  Condition: Excellent.  Price: $100.00.
 
#C-BD-23.  Beautiful golden birds with turquoise rhinestone eyes on gold chain.  Condition: Excellent.  Price: $35.00
 
#C-RH-24.  This chatelaine is comprised of clear rhinestone hand set rhinestone.  One stone on chain is slightly darkening.  Price: $20.00
 
#C-GD-25.  This is a beautiful 1/20 12k GF chatelaine with turquoise stones on each.  It is marked Bal-Ron.  Condition: Excellent.
